RENEWABLE ENERGY AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO FOSSIL FUEL IN NIGERIA
Abstract
Nigeria�s economy is crude oil dependent; therefore, making environmental pollution difficult to control. The recent update on the quantity of crude oil left in the earth and the pollution caused by the burning of Fossil Fuel has raised so much concern, and has instigated the search for an alternative energy resource, like Renewable Energy. This research examines the various sources of Renewable Energy available, and their viability in Nigeria, the various Policies enhancing Renewable Energy development in Nigeria, the Renewable Energy Regulatory Framework in Nigeria. Also, this research examines the barriers to the development of Renewable Energy in Nigeria. In all, this research recommends various ways governments and other stakeholders can promote Renewable Energy in order to achieve the much deserved environmental sustainability.
