Abstract

ABSTRACT The broad objective of this study is to ascertain the effects of corporate governance on financial reporting credibility. The study focused on the effect of corporate governance on financial reporting credibility. The study was� restricted to �Deposit Money Banks (DMB) in Nigerian. This study will covered a period of ten years, 2013 - 2022. The choice this period was because it was synonymous with the financial crisis that swept across the globe- the post Enron era. Ordinary least square regression technique was used for analyzing data extracted from secondary sources. The outcome of this study revealed that board size has negative effect on financial reporting credibility. The result further showed that board independence has a positive effect on financial reporting credibility of DMBs in Nigeria, Additionally, the result revealed audit committee diligence has a positive effect on financial reporting credibility. Finally, the result revealed that ownership structure has no significant effect on financial reporting credibility of Deposit Money Banks (DMB) in Nigeria. This study recommended that Shareholders of Deposit Money Banks (DMB)in Nigeria should insist that DMBs maintain small board. This study also recommended that audit committee should meet regularly to discuss on supervisory issues and enforce compliance of the same�
