Abstract

A fuzzy logic application for the early diagnosis was implemented in this study. The application gives Medical and paramedical staff the opportunity to have hands-on experience on the application of fuzzy logic for the diagnosis of typhoid fever. As a decision support system it accepts numeric input for the signs and symptoms of typhoid. The numeric inputs are weighed (severe symptoms 3, mild symptoms 2 and no symptoms 1). The total maximum weight of the symptoms and the total weights for each patient is computed. This gives the medical personnel insight into the severity of the disease so that he or she can do the necessary
