Abstract

The research study focused on the attitude of parents towards the inclusion of sex education in the primary school curriculum in Egor Local Government Area, Benin city. The purpose of the study was to determine the attitude of parent towards the inclusion of sex education in the primary school curriculum. To find out if the religious background of parents significantly affect their attitude toward sex education. To elicit if there is any difference in the attitude of parents towards inclusion of sex education in the primary school curriculum among the various cultural groups. The only instrument for data collection was self- constructed questionnaires. A total of 280 copies of the questionnaires were retrieved and used for the study. A purposive sampling technique was used to draw the sample from the population. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and ANOVA. Finding revealed a positive attitude of parents towards inclusion of sex education in the primary school curriculum. It was recommended that parents� culture and religious background be considered while giving sex education to primary school children for easy acceptability. Preferably, the primary school children, should be taught sex education with emphasis on abstinence. The researcher suggested that the research study should be duplicated in Muslim predominant area. � � �
