AN APPRAISAL OF THE ADMISSIBILITY OF ELECTRONIC EVIDENCE IN NIGERIAN COURTS

Abstract

This research work critically examines the admissibility of electronic evidence in Nigerian courts, its effectiveness, and the lingering problem of the admissibility of electronic evidence and finally recommends solutions to cure this defect. Acknowledging the inevitability of tendering and taking of evidence in court, this research focuses on the importance of electronic generated evidence in our judicial system. Nonetheless, commercial transaction and all other forms of communication start and end through some form of electronic medium, and thus, the introduction of technological advancement over the years has gradually turned the world into a global village. As a result of the rapid growth in technology, the Nigerian court has undoubtedly noted the invention that regulates human interaction currently and has imbibed such invention into effective performance of its duties.
