FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE & AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY

From harnessing the power of agritech to improving food security and rural livelihoods, our programs empower students with hands-on experience, critical thinking, and the tools to transform agriculture in Nigeria and beyond.

DEAN'S WELCOME MESSAGE

We are glad at the Faculty of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (FAAT), Benson Idahosa University (BIU) to welcome all our students and staff to campus at the commencement of another academic session. FAAT was established as a full fleshed faculty in 2011 at the beginning of the 2011/2012 academic session. Hitherto, programmes and courses in agriculture were run as a department under the Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences (now Faculty of Science); agriculture being a foundation programme at the commencement of Benson Idahosa University.

The Faculty is fully committed to excellence in agricultural development through teaching, research and community service. The Faculty is endowed with an enviable crop of dedicated and experienced teaching staff as well as facilities for cutting edge research in agriculture and agricultural technology.

Our academic programmes and courses cut across an array of specialized areas of agriculture run in three departments: Agricultural Economics and Extension Services, Agronomy and Environmental Management and Animal Science and Animal Technology. Students are exposed to courses from the undergraduate (BSc. Agric) to postgraduate (PGD, MSc., M.Phil., PhD) levels in most of the programmes for which the faculty enjoys full accreditation of the National University Commission (NUC).

Our programmes and courses are robust and our students are exposed to intellectual and practical skills equipping them with the capacity to face the challenges of the present and future agricultural development.

Thank you for visiting us.
