Department of Animal Science and Animal Technology

HOD'S WELCOME MESSAGE

Dr (Mrs) H.I. Ajayi

Welcome to the webpage of the department of Animal Science and Animal Technology, Benson Idahosa University. The department was established in 2012 but had operated as a unit in the then department of Agriculture, prior to this time. The quest for improved livelihood, nutrition
and ease of access to cheaper sources of protein is on especially in the not so developed countries. The department of Animal Science and Animal Technology is positioned to proffer solution to these and other challenges.

OUR VISION

The vision of the department stems from the divine Mandate of Benson Idahosa University, which was conceived by her founder the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa. His vision was to ‘Raise up an army of professionals and academics who will go in Christ’s name to the ends of the world with
the fire of the Holy Ghost to impart truth by precept and example’.

OUR MISSION

The department aspires to be a model for “Academic Excellence with Godliness”. We are set to will raise Academics, Professionals and Entrepreneurs, who will be effective disciples for Christ by excelling in the field of Animal Science and Tourism. We are committed to the mission of raising leaders, who are complete in spirit mind and body; thus contributing to the production of high-level leadership and quality manpower for Nigeria
and the world.

Our key services are teaching, research, community development and character building. We perform these functions by judiciously utilizing current information and communication technology, networking with similar institutions worldwide, putting people first in operations and emphasizing Christian ethical values. The beneficiaries of our services are students, employers of labour, present and future generations, Nigeria and the global community.
