It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center of Benson Idahosa University (BIU) a hub of innovation, research, and excellence in AI-driven solutions. Our center is committed to advancing the frontiers of artificial intelligence through cutting-edge research, strategic industry collaborations, and impactful academic programs.

I am pleased to share that Benson Idahosa University (BIU) has adopted an AI policy, which received Senate approval on February 3, 2025 under the dynamic and excellent leadership of Professor John Okhuoya -Vice Chancellor Benson Idahosa University.

At BIU’s AI Center, we recognize the transformative power of AI in shaping the future of education, healthcare, business, agriculture, and various other sectors. As we stand at the cusp of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, our goal is to equip students, researchers, and industry professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to harness AI for sustainable development and societal advancement.

The center has full compliments of academic staff of the University who were sufficiently trained by the Virtual Institute of Capacity Building in Higher Education (VICBHE) under the great and erudite Facilitator General, Emeritus Professor Peter Akinsola Okebukola, OFR. The Center has also initiated collaboration with the National Association of Artificial Intelligence Practitioners (NAAIP) under the leadership of Professor Eyitope O. Ogunbodede. Additionally, a strategic partnership has been established with Engr. Dr. Harrison Edokpolor of the University of Bath, UK. A renowned expert in Medical Robotics, he has pioneered the development of an anticancer robotic capsule.

Our center is designed to foster a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together experts from computer science, engineering, data science, and other fields to create innovative solutions that address real-world challenges. Through workshops, seminars, and collaborative research projects, we aim to bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that our students and faculty contribute meaningfully to the global AI ecosystem.
